TTB, ATCL sign deal to promote tourism IDDY MWEMA

The event was held in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday. After the signing ceremony, TTB Chairman Justice (rtd) Thomas Mihayo and ATCL Board Chairman, Eng Emmanuel Korosso, said the agreement will boost the sector growth and its contributions to the economy.
“One of the important factors in boosting the tourism sector is airline services. If you have done research, you will agree with me that countries with strong and stable airline services attract more tourists,” Korosso said.
According to the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) monthly economic review for October this year, travel receipts grew by 12.8 per cent to 2,267.4 million US dollars following an increase in the number of tourist arrivals.
The government recently vowed to purchase two new passenger planes to boost the tourism industry.
Increased air access, with many carriers now flying direct to Tanzania, new luxury hotels on the Mainland and Zanzibar, improved infrastructure and tarmac roads on safari circuits are also major factors contributing to tourism's success story. TTB Chairman Judge Mihayo said air transport and tourism depend on each other in revenue generation.
“Among many areas we agreed to work together is having a seminar to ATCL workers and pilots about tourism attractions in the country,” he said.

He said that ATCL is determined to promote domestic tourism destinations and make the country hub where tourists will visit Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater to mention a few.
